The Blue Flag Program is voluntary certification of beaches and marinas and one of the programs offered by the Foundation for Environmental Education. To be awarded the Blue Flag certificate, the municipalities or other institutions maintaining the beaches and marinas must comply with certain requirements in the categories of environmental education and information, water quality, environmental management, safety and service quality.
